Free First Time Homebuyers’ Seminars

Leominster Credit Union is hosting free first time homebuyers’ seminars each Wednesday from April 25 through May 23.  The seminars will be held in Clinton, Holden, Worcester, and Leominster. Seminar details and registration can be found at Leominstercu.com/home-seminars/

A team of real estate experts including a realtor, attorney and financing professionals will present the program.  Topics will include:  Are you ready to buy a home; Finding Your Dream Home; Obtaining Financing; and the Closing Process.  Attendees will learn about the costs associated with homeownership; how your credit affects your options; making an offer and negotiating the price; the inspection process; and closing.

“The process of buying your first home can be daunting.  Making the right choices can help set you up for the rest of your life,” said Lydia Vazquez, Assistant Vice President, Real Estate Lending. “The seminars will help break down the entire process.  Our goal is to enable the attendees to be well prepared; to have realistic expectations and to avoid costly mistakes.”

Seating is limited and registration is required.

The First Time Homebuyers’ Seminars are part of LCU’s May is Homebuyers’ Month which includes home-buying tips on facebook, special offers and contests.

Lisa Perrin joins Leominster Credit Union as Senior Vice President

Leominster Credit Union announces they have hired Lisa Perrin as Senior Vice President of Retail. Perrin will be responsible for LCU’s entire branch network, all deposit products and related retail services.  She will also oversee the Residential Lending group.  Perrin will report to John O’Brien, President and CEO, and she will participate as a member of the senior management team.

Perrin joins LCU with more than 25 years in the financial services industry.  Prior to joining LCU, she was Senior Vice President, Chief Retail Banking and Lending Officer at Bay State Bank in Worcester, MA. She previously worked at Workers Credit Union in Fitchburg, MA, as Assistant Vice President and Sales Manager.

“We are delighted to have Lisa on board at LCU,” said John J. O’Brien, President and CEO.  “Lisa is a results-driven financial services professional with a history of moving organizations forward. She has the breadth of experience that will allow her make a positive impact in both our retail and residential lending areas.”

Perrin is a Board Member and Treasurer of St. Vincent Hospital Research Fund and an active member of the Worcester Chamber of Commerce. She has also volunteered her time assisting with projects at the United Way and Habitat for Humanity.

Perrin attended Fitchburg State University. She has continued her professional development through a number of continuing education programs including MassBankers Compliance and Lending training; CUNA Financial Management; and Project Management Skills Development courses.  She lives with her family in Chelmsford, MA.

Rhonda Cornum is a former United States Army General Officer, a former Desert Storm Prisoner of War and the former Assistant Surgeon General for the U.S. Army. Additionally, as the first Director of the U.S. Army’s novel Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF) initiative, she offers a unique perspective into Psychological and Physical Fitness at scale.
Renée Boynton-Jarrett is a practicing primary care pediatrician at Boston Medical Center, a social epidemiologist and the founding director of the Vital Village Community Engagement Network. Through the Vital Village Network, she is supporting the development of community-based strategies to promote child well-being in three Boston neighborhoods. The CSF strategy represented the model for universal implementation of physical and psychological health promotion within the Department of Defense and having affected 1.1 Million Soldiers, remains the single largest implementation of wellbeing and positive psychological skills in scope and scale globally.
Dr. Boynton-Jarrett’s work focuses on the role of early-life adversities as life course social determinants of health. She has a specific interest in the intersection of community violence, intimate partner violence, and child abuse and neglect and neighborhood characteristics that influence these patterns. This event is free and open to the public, however, space is limited and advance registration is required.

ARC of opportunity/North Central Career Center April 17th job fair

There is still time to register for The North Central Career Center’s job fair at the Arc of Opportunity – April 17, 2018, 4:30pm-6pm.   Space is very limited in the facility, so please respond as soon as possible if interested in participating.  This event is open to the public and we expect a good sized crowd of job seekers with a wide range of experience.

Leominster Credit Union to hold Fall Shred-A-Thon

April 2, 2018 – Leominster Credit Union will hold a Shred-A-Thon at its headquarters located at 20 Adams Street, Leominster, MA on Saturday, May 5, 208 from 9:00AM – Noon.

Members and non-members can get rid of old, sensitive documents by shredding and recycling them at the Shred-A-Thon.  All items will be shred on site by a secure shredding service, New England Security Shredders.

Members of the community can bring up to three legal size file boxes or three 13-gallon kitchen trash bags to be shred for free.  However, we will be accepting donations to Habitat for Humanity during the event.  The Shred-A-Thon helps raise awareness about recycling and of course the importance of shredding personal documents to protect against identity theft.

Important documents to bring to the Shred-A-Thon include bank statements, tax returns, medical bills, credit card statements and other personal documents.
