Summer Reading Week 6 – Fantasy, August 6-11, 2018

Travel to a world far away where knights and dragons live during Fantasy week (August 6-11, 2018).  We’ll make fairy houses at Maker Monday, and it’s our Annual Prince & Princess Day at Crafternoon on Tuesday with crowns, swords, shields, and even a castle!  Sally Cragin will be back to help us create more marionettes on Thursday – this time with a Princess, a Farmhand, and a Wizard!  Make a wooden robot on Saturday (pre-registration required).  Listen to “Intergalactic P.S. 3” by Madeline L’Engle on Wednesday for lunch, and at Friday’s Film Fest enjoy the story about a girl who uses telekinesis on her parents in the 1996 film.  Please check our calendar listing for more information.  All are free programs.  Free parking is available in the lot at the corner of Boulder Drive and Newton Place. TDO Aerial Videography Rebranding to TDO Video Productions

TDO Video Productions is  going from solely aerial to a full video production company including; commercial advertising, promotional videos,  sports coverage/ documentaries, interviews and documentaries, structure/ building inspection, real estate video tours, and event promotion and coverage.

This rebrand includes a new logo as well as a new website that is going to launch on Monday July 16th.

Fitchburg Public Library presents Historic New England Book Talk with Patricia Harris and David Lyons

Join us at the Fitchburg Public Library (610 Main St.) on July 25, at 6:30 PM. Ms Harris and Mr. Lyons will present their book Historic New England: a Tour of the Region’s Top 100 Landmarks.  While New England boasts over 400 landmarks, “historic” does not always translate into “interesting”.  Ms. Harris and Mr. Lyons have sought out those with the most interesting and rewarding histories.  They recount not only houses and tall ships, but also weather stations, carousels, and even beaches.  As the authors of over thirty books on travel, food, and art, they are well positioned to share with us their most memorable experiences so that we can visit them as well!

Calling all detectives! If you love a good mystery then the week of July 30-August 4 is the week for you!  We’ll work with invisible ink and make detective boxes at Maker Monday, and Ms. June will show us how to create a secret code decoder at Crafternoon on Tuesday.  Venture into the world of CSI with the Forensic Science Roadshow on Wednesday evening.  The Museum of Science will help us to outwit nature so that we can continue to look for clues at their Thursday program: Blizzards: Outwit the Elements.  You can go undercover with disguises at our photo booth all week!  Please check our calendar listing for more information.  All are free programs.  Free parking is available in the lot at the corner of Boulder Drive and Newton Place. bankHometown hires new Branch Manager for Putnam Location

Matthew McAvoy-LaFlamme accepted the position as Branch Manager of the bankHometown Putnam, Connecticut location on June 4th, 2018. Prior to accepting this position, Matthew was the Branch Manager of the Killingly location, and prior to that role, he was the Branch Supervisor of the Woodstock location.

Currently, Matthew serves as the treasurer for the Killingly Business Association and is a member of the Killingly Business Association Membership Committee. He is an active volunteer in the Killingly community, having participated Town of Killingly Safety Day, Financial Fair at Crabtree & Evelyn, Thompson Community Day, and several other events.

Matthew attended Quinebaug Valley Community College and is currently working toward his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Eastern Connecticut State University. He enjoys music, hiking, and spending time with his friends and family.
