For others, it’s about public relations: putting a milestone on the record with the local business community and press. For many, it’s simply a way to mark real growth (a new location, an expansion, new ownership) and share that moment with the neighbors, officials, and colleagues who’ve been part of the journey.
Whatever the reason, a Ribbon Cutting is a chance to connect with the people who matter most to your business: the Chamber, your fellow members, and the community you’re part of.
Some members keep it simple and just want a Chamber presence for photos. Others open it up to the public, invite elected officials, or hold their ceremony as part of a larger grand opening they’re planning themselves. Let us know what you have in mind on the form, and we’ll tailor our part of the ceremony accordingly.
What does the Chamber actually do at the ceremony?
That’s up to you! What we offer is more of a menu than a fixed package. Some members want us fully involved, others just want us there for the ribbon, so let us know what fits on the form and we’ll tailor our involvement accordingly. Typically, for most ribbon cutting we show up with the ceremonial ribbon and scissors, say a few brief remarks, present you with a certificate, and take photos (think of it as your official Chamber photo-op), which we’ll then share on social media and in our quarterly newsletter. But every part of that is adjustable, and the event itself is yours to plan and run, whether that means handling every detail yourselves or asking us to help coordinate things like inviting Ambassadors, elected officials, or recommending vendors.
Can you invite local officials or our state delegation?
Yes, if you’d like local, state, or federal officials invited, just let us know on the form and we’ll extend invitations. We can’t guarantee attendance, as it depends on their schedules.
Will there be a lot of people at my ceremony?
Your ceremony is as big as you make it. Some members keep it small and private; others invite the public, neighboring businesses, friends, and family, or coordinate it as part of a larger grand opening. Let us know your preference and we’ll plan accordingly.
Is there additional support for higher-tier members?
Members at our upper membership tiers receive enhanced support for their Ribbon Cutting. Mention your membership level on the form, or reach out to your membership contact, and we’ll make sure you get what’s included.
