“Great Masters of Song” Program at Fitchburg Public Library
The Fitchburg Public Library, 610 Main Street, will present an evening of song on Thursday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m. Skylarkz, a duo consisting of Sarah Clay, vocalist, and Nick Kachulis, piano, will present “Great American Masters of Song,” featuring selections from Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, and more of the masters of American Popular Song. Between songs, they will treat the audience with tales of the composers, the era they lived in, and the history behind the music. Skylarkz is well known throughout New England for their delightful concerts.

Nearly 200 students attended the Clinton High School CU4 Reality Financial Fair sponsored by Leominster Credit Union on March 30, 2017. The Financial Education Fair prepares students for the many financial decisions they will need to make once out of school. Students prepare for the event through a yearlong curriculum that introduces them to skills on responsible money management, creating a budget and making wise decisions regarding credit. The CU4 Reality Financial Fair is a three-hour exercise where students select a career with realistic salaries and then start on a “financial education” journey visiting booths attended by local businesses, volunteers and LCU employees to gain a real life understanding of living expenses.
Students visited booths where everyday life experiences and spending situations were presented. Volunteers including auto dealers, realtors, lenders, utility providers, retailers and others who helped them understand the actual expenses and how to develop a spending plan. This event brings awareness and a focus on “needs versus wants.” Students learned that they may need to change expectations. Instead of buying a car, they may need to take public transportation; or they may need share living expenses with a roommate in order to make ends meet.
This year, in addition to Clinton High School attendees, students from Lincoln-Sudbury and Concord-Carlisle Regional High Schools as well as Clinton Middle School participated in the event.
Students from Nichols College served as ‘credit counselors’ and reviewed each student’s plan. They showed them where they were over budget and recommended adjusting their choices by eliminating some of the ‘wants’ in order to have enough for the necessities.

Leominster Credit Union announces that for the fourth year in a row, they will be providing up to $110,000in assistance to first-time homebuyers and displaced homemakers through the Federal Home Loan Bank’s Equity Builder Program. Eligible homebuyers can receive up to $11,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance. This program is on a first come, first serve basis.
To qualify, buyers are subject to credit approval and must meet the Equity Builder Program qualifications criteria, which include income limits. According to Julie Bergstrand, Real Estate Underwriting Manager, “The maximum income limit for a family of four in Worcester is $68,000.00, which is less restrictive than many would expect.”
“For many first time buyers, this assistance can mean the difference of fulfilling their dream of
homeownership,” said Bergstrand.

Executive Producer
One of the most important roles on our team!
As an Executive Producer, you are a key member of the filmmaking team. By contributing at least 10% of the total budget for the film ($2,500), you will receive IMDb (Internet Movie Database) credit, many incredible invites and perks (see campaign page), and, when the feature film is made, your contribution to the short will count as an equity investment in the feature. We are committed to hiring 80% of our cast and crew from the New England region. Paid film jobs in the New England region are hard to come by. We are working hard to provide employment to local filmmakers.

We are committed to building a cast and crew with at least 50% women. Women represent 50% of the students graduating from film school and, therefore, our set will reflect and honor that statistic.
About Jennifer Potts:
Jennifer Potts is an independent Massachusetts-based filmmaker who proves that life does not need to slow down when you reach the middle. After receiving her BA in Theatre Arts, she spent years directing and producing theatre. At the age of 41, she returned to school to study Film and Video Production at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In the past five years, Jennifer has written and directed three short films. Her last short film, Charlie & Poppy, screened at 16 film festivals around the world and won three best of category awards. Jennifer wrote The Extraordinary World of Cecily Blinkstop during her first semester in graduate school and is shooting this short as a proof of concept for the feature film. The feature film script won the Grand Prize of the New England Spotlight section of the 2016 Rhode Island International Film Festival’s Screenplay Competition.
Set in 1974 rural New England, this live-action family drama is about Cecily, a 7-year old girl who, following the death of her baby sister, lives in a world with no music, no color, no laughter, no love. That is, until a magical imaginary friend shows up and joins Cecily on the quest to save her family from the grief that is destroying them.
