GARDNER ALE HOUSE announces plans to distribute beer UNDER MOON HILL BREWING Company name
The brewery at the Gardner Ale House is announcing plans to distribute beer outside the Ale House under the parent company’s name, Moon Hill Brewing Co. Inc. Owner Rick Walton said that when he started Moon Hill Brewing Co. in 2005, it was intended to be the corporate umbrella for the Gardner Ale House and any other enterprises involving food and beverage that presented themselves. “We now find ourselves able to distribute our beer and that will be our next enterprise,” Walton said.
Moon Hill already has a tap dispensing its “Packie Run” Session IPA at The Columbia Tavern in Leominster. And now, as a Grand Opening Event, Moon Hill Brewing is taking over all the taps at The Columbia Tavern on Thursday, December 15ta, from 6 PM till closing. Mr. Walton said that “A tap takeover is a traditional marketing activity in the craft brewing world. Basically, a venue, like The Columbia Tavern, will agree to pour beers from only one brewery for a given amount of time.” Mr. Walton summed it up by saying “The tap takeover event is being used as our Grand Opening for Moon Hill Brewing Co.’s new effort at distribution. Right now there are only two places you can find Moon Hill beers: At the Gardner Ale House and now at The Columbia Tavern in Leominster. Please join us at The Columbia Tavern next Thursday!”
January Edition of Good Morning North Central features new director of MassTech
The next edition of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber’s popular Good Morning North Central breakfast series is scheduled for Friday, January 13, 2017 from 6:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton, 99 Erdman Way, Leominster, MA. The January edition is sponsored by the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts.
El Good Morning North Central series is a high-profile, fast-paced and educational breakfast program geared towards executives, senior managers, professionals and business owners. Each of the programs has a business-oriented focus and features popular speakers to present on topics of interest to local businesses.
The featured speaker for the January edition is Tim Connelly, the new executive director of the Massachusetts Tech Collaborative, or MassTech. The program also includes a presentation by Charley Valera, author of “My Father’s War: Memories from Our Honored WWII Soldiers”.
Connelly is an experienced leader with distinguished career in financial services, as well as a passion for civic engagement, social impact, workforce development, and regional economic growth. Prior to his selection to lead MassTech, he was employed at Brown Brothers Harriman, where he spent 30 years working as a managing director, and as a General Partner. At Brown Brothers Harriman, he led service delivery enterprise, innovation and product support, and investor services units. He retired from the firm in December, 2014.
He currently serves on the technology advisory board of BDO Consulting. He is a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, and chaired the United Way’s 2014-2015 development campaign. Connelly is also a member of the board of trustees of the Carroll School and New England Disabled Sports, a Corporator of Northeastern University, and he serves on the finance and investment committee at the Cotting School.
Charley Valera has always had a fascination with WWII and its effects on the soldiers and their families. Charley knew his father was a WWII veteran and, like most of us, he never asked what life was like during the war. Years after Valera’s father passed away, taking his stories with him, he was determined to document the lives of other veterans. Within the pages are over two years of interviewing dozens of veterans. Charley writes articles and blogs for various media on topics from real estate to aviation. A licensed commercial pilot, realtor, author, public speaker, father of two boys and husband to Cheryl, Charley also owns and runs the FCA Flight Center, a flight training school in central Massachusetts

Public Event Announcement New Wachusett Station Commuter Rail Opening Event
Thursday, December 15ta at 3:30 pm
MASSDOT, the MBTA are excited to join the Baker Administration, Federal, State, and Local Public officials and our neighbors in Fitchburg and Westminster to celebrate the recent opening of the New Wachusett Commuter Rail Station.
This event will include a speaking program at the station at 3:30 pm on Thursday, December 15ta for the public and project stakeholders.
The new Wachusett Station includes new full-train length, accessible high-level platforms, new canopies, passenger shelters, benches, windscreens, signage, train approach warning system, variable message signs, and platform lighting. The station will be equipped with closed circuit television (CCTV) video surveillance cameras, and police emergency call boxes.
Wachusett Station is the newest station on the MBTA commuter Rail System. The design and construction of the new station has been closely coordinated with the City of Fitchburg and will be supported by a new Commuter Rail Layover facility in the neighboring town of Westminster.
Leominster Credit Union Donates Baskets to Veteran Homestead
LCU employees donated $5 to wear jeans to work one day in October, raising enough money to purchase four laundry baskets full of new household items such as bed sheets, cooking utensils, flatware, towels, cleaning products and more. The event was organized by LCU employees; Ellen Coughlin, Ruth Pisciotta, Linda Taratuta, Fiona Szpiech and Bryon Goguen.
Cindy Correll, Development Director Veteran Homestead, commented, “No veteran should be discarded, and neither should their experience. Leominster Credit Union has supported Armistice Homestead in Leominster, MA with friendship and supplies. The veterans residing at Armistice Homestead maintain independence and dignity in a home-like atmosphere”.
Veteran Homestead is an independent, non-profit organization that provides housing and care to U.S. Armed Services Veterans from across the nation. Their focus is on reclamation and regeneration to transition soldiers back to civilian life, so they can reclaim their lives and revitalize their futures.

Neil Abramson Nominated for NARTS President of the Board
Champion for small businesses and resalers brings a wealth of retail processing and resale expertise to the Association of Resale Professionals
The Association of Resale Professionals (NARTS) has announced the nomination of Neil Abramson for President of the Board. Abramson is the Chief Financial Officer and Strategiest at ECI Stores, which includes four family consignment stores. His expertise encompasses more than 25 years of retail processing experience and 18+ years of resale, which has lended to ECI Stores’ position as New England’s largest children’s, ladies, teens, home decor, and furniture consignment.
Abramson has been a member of NARTS for over 15 years.
NARTS celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2014, and it’s now the world’s largest resale trade association. Abramson thanks the association for their nomination and looks forward to providing and receiving world-class insight regarding the resale industry via NARTS for some time to come.

The North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce welcomed Help For Our Community
The North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce welcomed Help For Our Community as a new member in November.
Help For Our Community is a Fitchburg-based non-profit organization that serves the homeless and other disadvantaged populations in 14 North Central Mass communities with a variety of emergency-based programs.
2016 will be the 16ta year that HFOC has been cooking and delivering hot meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas days, anticipating the demand for more than 750 meals this holiday season. Throughout the year, HFOC also gathers supplies for school back-packs for foster children, kits of necessities for homeless families, and a monthly diaper pantry for struggling moms. The Fitchburg, Leominster, and Gardner fire departments rely on HFOC when a family may be in need in the event of a house fire. They are called in to gather information on the individuals to help provide clothing, toiletries, gift cards for grocery stores, and small household items. All of the resources come from community members who are able to secure items and pass them along through HFOC’s efforts.
People in need may not know where to turn, and HFOC is able to direct them to services in place, in order to maximize the impact of other local organizations such as Meals on Wheels, the VA, and senior centers. But HFOC is often asked to “fill the gaps” in existing programs. Many people have come to rely on their work, so HFOC is constantly in need of volunteers, financial support, and donations of important supplies.
While HFOC hopes to open a donation center in future, monetary donations can be made at Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU) branches at 350 John Fitch Highway in Fitchburg or 1123 Central Street in Leominster.
