Rollstone Bank & Trust Donates $10,000 To Habitat For Humanity

Rollstone Bank & Trust, through its Charitable Foundation, provided $10,000 to the North Central Massachusetts chapter of Habitat for Humanity, for its Critical Repair program. Proceeds will support projects across the region that allow low-income homeowners to maintain a safe place to live so they may stay in their homes.

Martin F. Connors, Jr., President & CEO of Rollstone Bank & Trust, said, “Habitat is a great organization, providing our neighbors with the most basic necessity – a roof over their heads.” Connors continued, “It’s the mission of RBT to help families, communities, and businesses flourish, so we’re proud to support a program that is vital to the health and well-being of families in our community.”

“We are very thankful for Rollstone Bank & Trust’s generous donation to help us to repair homes in our local region”, stated Carolyn Read, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts, Inc.  “The critical home repair program helps low-income seniors, individuals, and families remain in their existing affordable homes through repairs to address accessibility, safety, weatherization, and age. This grant will help us keep our neighbors safe and warm in their homes for years to come.”

New Fund Established at Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts to benefit Bigelow Free Public Library

The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts is thrilled to announce the establishment of a new fund dedicated to supporting the Bigelow Free Public Library in Clinton. The Foundation Fund has been made possible through the generosity of Gordon Graham and the Graham family, former residents of Clinton.

“The Graham family believes that the Clinton Bigelow Free Public Library, at the center of the great town of Clinton, is vital to helping our citizens enhance and improve their learning literacy skills to live a fuller life. Our family has enjoyed and appreciated what the library has brought to Clinton and hope to help with continuing this important public service.” said Nicholas Graham of Belton, TX, the son of Gordon Graham.  Gordon’s parents, Lillian and George Graham, immigrated to Clinton from their native Ireland and Gordon was born and raised here. Nicholas and his siblings spent most of their childhoods in Clinton, and Gordon lived out his final years in town until his death in 2012. All were regular library patrons.

The newly established fund will provide vital financial support to enhance the services provided by the Bigelow Free Public Library. This resource will help to ensure that the library can continue to serve the town of Clinton with the excellence and dedication that Mr. Graham valued so highly.

Says Marie Letarte, Director of the Bigelow Public Library, “We are deeply grateful for this generous gift. It will greatly assist us in our mission to offer invaluable resources and services to our community. This fund not only honors Mr. Graham’s legacy but also reinforces the library’s role as a cornerstone of Clinton.”

The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts is honored to steward this fund, which joins a growing list of funds established to sustain nonprofits throughout the region. These funds play a crucial role in supporting local initiatives and ensuring the continued vitality of community services in the 33 towns the foundation serves.

Sizer School Holiday Craft Fair 2024 - VendorsThe Student Ambassadors of Sizer School in Fitchburg are hosting their 2nd Annual Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, November 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and we are looking for vendors!

This event is a fundraiser to support our students’ social-emotional growth. These funds will go towards After School Activities like School Dances and Field Trips.

We will have 10×10 spaces available to rent in the gym, cafeteria and other areas of the school the morning of the fair. The rental cost is $25 per space. (Only 1 vendor/company per table/space, please)

NOTE: We already have Color Street and Mary Kay!

Table and chairs available upon request. Electricity can be provided.

The Lunenburg Business Association is hosting its 3rd annual charity golf tournament in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Lunenburg. Come out swinging for Lunenburg’s youth on September 8th at Noon!

The Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg, Leominster, & Gardner is pleased to announce the appointment of Anthony L. Wilson as its new Director of Operations. Anthony brings a wealth of experience in youth development and community engagement, having served in various impactful roles across North Central Massachusetts.

Anthony Wilson has dedicated his career to empowering young people through education, mentorship, and community partnerships. His extensive background includes significant contributions to organizations such as Fitchburg Public Schools, MassHire, and UMass Medical School, where he played pivotal roles in program development
and implementation.

“We are thrilled to welcome Anthony Wilson to our team as the Director
of Operations,” said Elizabeth Coveney, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg, Leominster, & Gardner. “His proven leadership in youth development and his commitment to fostering a supportive environment for our members align perfectly with our mission. Fitchburg to Hold Overdose Vigil

The City of Fitchburg Health Department invites the public to attend an Overdose Awareness Vigil to be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the Upper Common, Main Street, Fitchburg. A variety of resource tables will be available at 6:15pm and the Vigil will begin at 7pm.

This is a time to join together and remember lives lost to overdose while giving hope to those struggling. Once again, the gazebo will be lit up purple representing overdose awareness. Several speakers will reflect on the impact overdose has had on their lives. This is always a powerful program and enables the community to gather in an atmosphere of fellowship and support. Inspirational music will be featured and food will be available. Residents are welcome to bring a chair to the event which traditionally ends around 8pm with the raising of purple glow sticks in memory of those who have passed from overdose, reminding us that there is help and there is hope.

Narcan training and distribution will be available throughout the evening. Luminary Bags will be available for remembrance and Purple ribbons will be distributed for residents to wear on International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31.

To honor a loved one lost overdose, please email a photograph to . Luminary memorial bags will be available for decoration that evening or can be picked up at the Outreach & Prevention Office, 2nd Floor, 14 Wallace Ave, Fitchburg. The luminary bags will be lit and displayed throughout the event.
