Learn Bike Maintenance at High-Performance Leominster Bike Shop<\/em><\/p>\n

Leominster\u2019s newest shop serving cyclists in central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire is now bringing the community together with classes in bicycle maintenance.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Tomten is hosting 10 separate classes scheduled for January through March at the shop at 1029 Central Street in Leominster. Basic classes include how to change a flat and essential out-on-the-ride fixes. More sophisticated training is offered on suspension, wheel building, brakes and more. Experienced expert mechanics lead each class. Classes are designed to improve the enthusiast\u2019s riding experience at all levels. A complete list and full class descriptions are available at tomtenbiketown.com. Riders can sign up on a per class basis via email to the shop\u2019s website. Obviously class sizes are limited due to space restrictions and classes are expected to fill up quickly.<\/p>\n

Tomten boasts a knowledgeable staff, all of them with many years of experience riding, racing and maintaining bikes. They know the makes of bike that riders are looking for, and they know how to keep them rolling at peak performance.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Customers ride for a wide variety of reasons, so Tomten offers bikes for the casual rider, the amateur enthusiast, and the serious competitor. Riders include those long accustomed to the area\u2019s unique rail trails and mountain bike trails in the state forests and in rural road riding mid-state, as well as BMX enthusiasts and riders just starting out cycling in all seasons. Cyclists will find a huge assortment of bike brands to choose from, including Trek, Specialized, Santa Cruz, Haro, Orbea, Del Sol, Electra, Sunday and Kink.<\/p>\n

The shop supports area charity rides with mechanic expertise for Bravehearts and the Tully Lake Triathalon. Tomten annually supports PanMass Challenge riders with donations.<\/p>\n

The name of the shop has an intriguing origin. Tomtens are part of Swedish folklore\u2026small mythical creatures with long white beards and funny hats and shoes. They are industrious helpers taking care of chores and keeping everything neat and tidy.<\/p>\n

Tomten Biketown opens its doors at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Group rides are posted on the Facebook page, as are other events and promotions. A short cyber-hop to Instagram will reward cyclists with stories and feature articles on the subject of their favorite pastime.<\/p>\n
