In the fall of 2008, the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce and the North Central Massachusetts Economic Development Council co-sponsored the Controlling Energy Costs Seminar Series. To view the brochure, click here.

Controlling Energy Costs: Aggregation Seminar
This informative seminar provided businesses with the information to consider when purchasing power.

• Kevin Brannelly, Director of the Rates and Revenue Requirements Division, and Sean Hanley, Assistant Director of the Rates and Revenue Requirements Division of the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities on the how electricity is priced, the structure of a bill and how rate changes are approved. • EnerNOC on their demand response program which allows businesses to agree to reduce their power in certain instances and get paid for it. To view presentation, click here.
• Tom Flaherty, of the Hess Corporation, on ways to reduce your electricity costs, including but not limited to aggregation opportunities.

Controlling Energy Costs: Conservation Seminar
Businesses were given practical information on how to conserve energy and reduce costs. Experts from the field of energy conservation provided the resources and strategies businesses need in order to save power, save money, and help the environment.

Controlling Energy Costs: Generation Seminar
Provided businesses with options to generate and produce their own energy needs. Experts in the fields of alternative energy, co-generation, and power generation discussed practical strategies for businesses to produce their own power and save money.

• Tyler Leeds, project coordinator with the Massachusetts Technical Collaborative Renewable Energy Trust, on Commonwealth Solar, and other renewable energy programs offered through the trust. To view presentation, click here.
